Running Android OS in iPhone 3G? What are you talking exactly?
Yes, its real! I call it iPhoneDroid
A guy nicknamed Planetbeing known as iPhone hacker . He was heavily involved in various efforts in iPhone jailbreaking. However, since mid-2009, Planetbeing seems out of circulation.
Well, as quoted from MobileCrunch, Thursday (22/4/2010), Planetbeing suddenly re-emerged with a surprise. He managed to break an iPhone to be able to run Android operating system. Although, Planetbeing acknowledge his efforts are not perfect and is still in Alpha stage.
As appeared in the video, several things can be done. Functions including touch screen, Wifi access, play music and more. “Well, this is not production quality, I think this is still Alpha quality,” he said.
The interesting thing, the video shows that the iPhone 3G could run two operating systems at once. On the one hand there is the iPhone OS that runs ‘normal’ (the jailbreak version, of course), on the other side is the Android with a rather limited functionality.
In 2009, Planetbeing have demonstrated how to run the Linux kernel on the iPhone. He later confessed to jailbreak iPhone 3GS with other projects.
Planetbeing’s video demonstrating the iPhone running Android can be seen on YouTube.
